Nominations to be Announced Live on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT

LOS ANGELES (Jan. 6, 2022) Rosario Dawson (Dopesick, Go-Big Show) and Vanessa Hudgens (tick, tick...BOOM!, The Princess Switch) will announce the nominees for the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® on Wednesday, January 12 on Instagram Live. The nominations will be announced exclusively via Instagram Live with Rosario Dawson on @sagawards and Vanessa Hudgens on @vanessahudgens beginning at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT.

SAG Awards Nominations will kick off at 9:50 a.m. ET / 6:50 a.m. PT on @sagawards’ Instagram Stories with an introduction by SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher. Nominations for the Outstanding Action Performances by Television and Film ensembles will follow, with announcements made by SAG Awards Committee members Jason George and Elizabeth McLaughlin.

This marks the second year that SAG Awards nominations will be presented exclusively via Instagram Live. The SAG Awards aims to utilize the innovation of social media channels to create an authentic connection with their audience by reimagining the Nominations Announcement as a seamless, virtual experience for both nominees and fans.

The 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT from The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. 

Rosario Dawson is an artist, designer and activist. She made her feature film debut at the age of 15 in Harmony Korine’s controversial film Kids followed by Spike Lee’s He Got Game and The 25th Hour. Dawson has since starred in a range of films including Alexander, Rent, Clerks II, Top Five, Trance, Unstoppable and Men in Black II, as well as the Sin City franchise. For her performance in Seven Pounds, she won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Award at the 2009 NAACP Image Awards. On the small screen, she starred as ‘Allegra Dill’ in USA’s Briarpatch and as 'Claire Temple' in the Netflix adaptation of the Marvel comic book series Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and The Defenders. Her most recent projects include the Hulu limited series Dopesick, followed by the Ava DuVernay directed pilot DMZ for HBO Max. It was recently announced that she will be starring in the highly anticipated Mandalorian spin-off series, Ahsoka Tano. Aside from her acting credits, Dawson has produced several passion projects such as Talia Lugacy’s Descent, This Is Not A War Film and The Need To Grow. Recently, Rosario directed her first short film Boundless for the Power/On Series as part of the Straight Up Films anthology to encourage girls in S.T.E.A.M. in partnership with YouTube and Google. Dawson is an active board member of V-Day, The Lower East Side Girls Club, Operation USA and the Environmental Media Association. In 2011, Rosario was honored by Barack Obama with the President’s Volunteer Service Award for her valuable contributions to the community.

Vanessa Hudgens is an actress and entrepreneur. Hudgens made her feature film debut in Catherine Hardwicke’s Thirteen starring Holly Hunter and Evan Rachel Wood. However, it was her role in Disney Channel’s breakaway sensation High School Musical that has garnered her much praise and attention. She was also seen in the films’ highly successful follow ups High School Musical 2 and the theatrical release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Hudgens followed up her High School Musical hits by starring in the critically acclaimed Bandslam as well Beastly and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. In 2010, she won the ShoWest Award for ‘Female Star of Tomorrow.’ She also starred in one of the most talked-about films of 2013, Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers. In 2015, she made her Broadway debut, starring in the title role of the beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning film and stage musical, Gigi. She had audiences and critics praising her incredible performance as ‘Rizzo’ in the record-breaking Grease Live for FOX in 2016 and as ‘Maureen Johnson’ in RENT: LIVE for FOX in 2019. Hudgens’ most recent film, Asking For It, premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. She can currently be seen in the third installment of The Princess Switch series, which was released worldwide on Netflix on November 18th, and Lin Manuel Miranda’s tick, tick...BOOM!, which was released worldwide on Netflix on November 19th. Hudgens is the co-founder of the California-based cactus water brand Caliwater, and of the intelligent skincare brand KNOW Beauty.

Fran Drescher was elected SAG-AFTRA president on September 2, 2021. She rose to international stardom for her portrayal of The Nanny, which she also co-created and executive produced. The multi-award-winning and nominated actress/comedienne founded the non-profit Cancer Schmancer to educate and empower people after she survived cancer. As an advocate, she has been responsible for unanimous passage of a bill in Congress, has made multiple trips to Capitol Hill to lobby for health issues, and was appointed Public Diplomacy Envoy for the U.S. State Department during the administrations of Presidents Bush ‘43 through Obama ‘44. Currently she is writing the book for the theatrical musical The Nanny and returns to voice her role in Hotel Transylvania 4. Drescher can be seen in upcoming episodes of Gravesend opposite Armand Asante on Amazon and NBC’s Mr. Mayor opposite Ted Danson. She is grateful to have her rescue dog Angel Grace who rescued her during lockdown.

Jason George joined the SAG Awards Committee in 2015. He continues as chair of the SAG-AFTRA Diversity Advisory Committee, in addition to his service as a board member of the SAG-AFTRA National Board and of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. He is an actor with over 50 guest star and numerous series regular primetime television roles to his credit. George can currently be seen starring on Station 19 and  Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Ben Warren, Miranda Bailey’s husband who gave up surgery to become a firefighter. He is also known for his work as a regular on ABC's Mistresses with Alyssa Milano. On film, he recently appeared in the thriller Breaking In with Gabriel Union and honored our wounded soldiers in the heartfelt drama Indivisible. Originally, George and his mentor—a Virginia Supreme Court Justice—had mapped out a career path in law. However, a college friend coaxed Jason into taking an acting class where he discovered his true calling on the stage.

Elizabeth McLaughlin joined the SAG Awards Committee in 2017. She began accumulating her fan following in 2008 when she starred as the lead in The Clique, after which she played dozens of parts on stage and on screens both big and small. She was featured in the regular casts of series including Pretty Little Liars, Grand Hotel and Betrayal. Elizabeth also starred as Alicia Hopkins in both seasons of Amazon's Hand of God. After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, Elizabeth is back in Los Angeles in pursuance of her next creative endeavor.
