SAG Awards® Honored with The Environmental Media Association’s Green Seal Award for the Fifth Consecutive Year

SAG Awards® Also Honored with EMA's 2013 Green Production Award

 

LOS ANGELES (October 19, 2013) – In recognition of its creative environmental efforts, the Screen Actors Guild Awards® has been honored for the fifth consecutive year with the Environmental Media Association (EMA)’s Green Seal. Presented at the 23rd Annual EMA Awards on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Warner Brothers Studio, the accolade recognizes the outstanding green initiatives of the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®. The SAG Awards® is the only special event to have received the Green Seal for five consecutive years.

At the same ceremony, the Screen Actors Guild Awards® was presented with the previously announced EMA 2013 Green Production Award. This honor provides recognition for the SAG Awards® amongst its peers for its environmentally progressive operations and ability to surpass its green efforts year after year.

Accepting the Green Production Award on behalf of the SAG Awards® were SAG Awards Committee member Scott Bakula and Executive Producer Kathy Connell. The award was presented EMA board member and actor Frances Fisher.

The EMA Green Seal Program was created to promote responsible production methods and provide recognition for industry professionals that have made strides by embracing such practices. The Program's criteria provides a practical and comprehensive guide to eco-friendly film, television, award show and gala production. The Program is based on a self-assessment by the production company on how well it complies with the Program criteria developed by EMA and Green Seal.

SAG Awards executives recognized by EMA for spearheading the production’s environmental efforts were Kathy Connell, Producer; Mick McCullough, Supervising Producer; Benn Fleishman, Executive in Charge of Production; Jon Brockett, Awards Coordinating Producer; Chris Carr, Production Manager and Rosalind Jarrett Sepulveda, Executive in Charge of Publicity.

Among the new sustainable procedures instituted at the 19th Annual SAG Awards was a required online-only submission of actors for nominations consideration. The 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, telecast live on TNT and webcast on tntdrama.com and tbs.com. The 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.
